The paddling distance will be approximately 5 miles each day. Boats, lifejackets, paddles and campsite are included in the cost; however, meals are not provided. This will be open water paddling with little to no experience required. The cost is $35 for ages 13-18 and $50/adult.  Click here for complete information and reservations.

June 14:  Flag Day Ceremony in Cowan

Picture
Cowan will celebrate the history, heritage, and unity of "Old Glory" on Tuesday, June 14th, at 6 p.m. in front of the log cabin court house.

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Flag of the United States with 13 stripes of red and blue, and a union of stars on a blue field.

The history of the flag also brings the legendary story of Betsy Ross who sewed the first version according to her family memoirs.
