Cowan residents are very fortunate to have a comprehensive and convenient recycling program. If you live within the City Limits and pay the garbage fee with your monthly water bill, stop by City Hall to have your address added to the curbside recycling program, and to receive your first batch of "Blue Bags". The truck runs on the first and third Wednesday of each month to collect the blue bags for recycling.

If you live outside the City Limits, simply seperate the aluminum cans, newspapers, cardboard, and glass from your regular household garbage. Then, when you take your household garbage to the Convenience Center, simply place your recyclable items in the appropriate bins.

Businesses can recycle by calling the Interlocal Solid Waste Authority at 931-962-9048 to request special bins as well as collection service.  Or click here to send an e-mail.

Your participation in and support of our local recyling programs is a huge benefit for our community. Besides the obvious environmental benefits, this program saves space and reduces costs at the county landfill.
